  • Painful Growth

There will be times in your life when you will feel wronged, slighted, or hurt by others.

Sometimes this will be for good reason.

Some things are meant to hurt.

But if being hurt is as far as you go, if you cling to the injury or insult as if it is the defining feature of your relationships, you will miss so much of what these experiences have to offer.

When you are hurt, be hurt, but do not stop there.

Use the pain you experience to better understand yourself and others.

Treat pain as a teacher of empathy and compassion, asking it what lesson it is here to offer about creating healthier relationships with yourself and those around you.

Used in this way, pain is not something done to you, but a gift given to you as the foundation of your growth.

  • Chase Love

    Chase love.

    Life is short.

    The rest can wait.

There will be plenty of time for hardship, disappointment, and sorrow.

There is no need to seek these out.

    They will find you.

    Seek love.

When you find it, do not let it go.

Fight for it, hold it closely, and protect it with everything you’ve got.

    Love is all we’ve got.

  • A New Life

As you grow and change as a person, your desires, goals, and interests will inevitably grow and change as well.

The attitudes, opinions, and behaviors that used to work for you, or that seemed to work for you, no longer will.

Your perspective will shift and you will seek out new circumstances and relationships that better align with who you are becoming.

You may find, however, that although your environment and associations have changed, you are no more happy or content than you were before.

This is because, as you pursue new interests, there is a risk of taking your old attitudes, opinions, and behaviors with you.

Take stock of this, be honest with yourself, and become willing to let go of those things inside of you that no longer serve you or who you want to become, and then you will truly have a new life.

  • Room To Breathe

    Give yourself room to breathe.

Being driven and ambitious is not inherently a bad thing.

It is far better than being lazy and apathetic.

However, you need room to breathe.

You need time to relax, to decompress, and to recharge.

Do not make yourself so busy that you cannot enjoy yourself or the fruits of your labor.

    Do not forget to breathe.

  • Misdirected Energy

Worry does nothing to improve the situation about which you are worried.

Worry does not help you think more clearly, it does not help you formulate a plan, and it certainly does not help you take decisive action towards a solution for your worry.

Worry just keeps you stuck, trapped in a cycle of inaction and rumination.

But worrying is merely misdirected energy, and energy is neither bad nor good; it just is.

Once you accept this fact, you have a decision to make.

You can either remain trapped in your cycle of worry and inaction, a victim of the energy that overtakes you.

Or you can harness and channel that energy into something positive, productive, and useful.

If you chose the latter, if you redirect this energy outward into constructive action, you have discovered a superpower.
