Meditations on God

  • The Real Flex

We brag about how busy we are, how early we wake up, or how late we stay up at night, as if we are all competing to get the least amount of rest, to have the most stress, and to spend the least amount of time with our loved ones.

What does not get talked about, however, is the exhaustion, the loneliness, and the unhappiness that this lifestyle creates.

Meanwhile, we should be bragging about getting a good night’s sleep, eating well, exercising regularly, maintaining healthy relationships, and having peace in our hearts.

Health and happiness are the real flex.

  • Improvement Itself

Improvement itself is often the only reward you get for all of your effort.

Even if you give your all, success is never guaranteed.

Too many variables are beyond your control.

You can always control your effort, however.

Win or lose, succeed or fail, not a single drop of your blood, sweat, or tears is wasted if shed in an effort to be better tomorrow than you were yesterday.

  • Grounded In Truth Of Self

    There is strength in humility.

Knowing who you are and who you are not gives you power.

It empowers you to say yes to what matters and no to what does not.

Being comfortable in the truth of who you are will keep you grounded when the winds of influence, both from within and without, try to push and pull you to and fro.

Without humble self-awareness, you will become the perpetual victim of all manner of whim, delusion, and desire.

  • Making Wrongs Right

Learn to admit when you are wrong.

Practice overcoming the shame and regret of your mistakes and, through your words and your actions, you will replace these feelings with humility and courage.

Acknowledging and admitting your mistakes, and trying to do right by those you have wronged, is an investment in your honor, your integrity, and the truth.

It is also an investment in your relationships.

Whatever pain you feel now for amending your mistakes is a raindrop in the ocean compared to the pain you will feel for the rest of your life for failing to do so.

  • Right-Sized Humility

    False meekness is not humility.

Pretending to be smaller, quieter, or weaker than we actually are is no more humble than pretending to be bigger, louder, or stronger than we actually are.

Both are rooted in fear and insecurity.

Humility is about being right-sized, being exactly who we are without pretending to be more or less than that.

    Humility requires courage.

The most humble, selfless, and generous thing we can do is to be our powerful and vulnerable selves, no more and no less.
