Meditations on God

  • This Moment

Make time to take your time.

    Slow down.

Life is too precious to be constantly hurried and harried.

You will miss out on what matters most by always running toward that which matters least.

There are enough troubles in the world without you chasing after new ones.

Take a moment to pause, to reflect, and to take it all in.

You have come so far already.

You have overcome so much just to get this far.

Take a moment to breathe, to smile, to laugh, to love, to play, and to rejoice.

Take a moment to enjoy this moment.

  • Seek Your Limits

    Do not underestimate your resourcefulness.

You are capable of so much more than you give yourself credit for.

You cannot imagine the depths of your strength and resilience until you have been tested.

Until you have been pushed to your limits, you do not know what your limits are.

    Explore your edges.

Seek out experiences that challenge you, that push you past your perceived limitations, and that force you to grow.

    You will fail.

This is part of the process.

You cannot truly know yourself until you have known failure and you cannot truly grow until you have grown past it.

  • Remain Flexible

    Life is complex and ever-changing.

    Nothing stays the same.

Your best ideas and most well thought out plans may not work out as you expected.

In fact, it is prudent to assume that life will not go as planned or anticipated.

    Remain flexible.

    Stay determined without being rigid.

Rigidity will only cause you pain and frustration.

Focus on your goals, but soften your gaze to allow room in your vision for the unexpected.

When you are open to all possibilities, opportunities present themselves.

  • Perfectly Imperfect

Believe in people’s goodness, but do not be surprised when they fall short.

Most people are doing their best to be good in their own way.

    But we all fall short.

    No one is perfect.

Even the most morally upright and disciplined among us will stumble from time to time.

Do not let this shock or disappoint you.

    You are no different.

    You are no better.

    You, too, are perfectly imperfect.

Give people some room to be human.

    Allow for mistakes.

    Be generous with your forgiveness.

Remain optimistic, but plan for imperfection, both other people’s and your own.

  • At Peace With The Truth (Humility)

Humility is knowing who you are and who you are not, and being at peace with that.

It is also understanding who other people are and who they are not, and accepting that.

Humility is being right-sized in perception.

That is, having an honest and realistic perception of yourself, of the world around you, and of yourself in relation to the world around you.

In other words, humility is not thinking too much or too little of yourself or others.

Humility is also being right sized in representation.

This means representing who you are honestly and realistically to others, not pretending to be better or worse than you are.

Humility is asking for help when you need it, but also being willing to be self sufficient when you can.

It is helping others when you are able, but also being honest about when you cannot.

Humility is admitting you are not the best person for every job while also not shying away from your talents, skills, abilities, and attributes.

It is never saying more or less than is necessary.

Humility is being at peace with the truth.
