Meditations on God

  • Their Fears

The people who doubt you often feel the same way about themselves.

They do not believe in their own potential.

Or they have sold out their own dreams in the name of practicality.

People who have faced and overcome their fears do not instill fear in others.

People who have followed their dreams do not dissuade others from doing the same.

When someone doubts your ability to succeed at something, consider the fact that they may have had the same or similar aspirations, but were too frightened to follow through on them.

Their fate does not have to be yours.

You do not have to let fear rule over you.

Live a life you are proud of.

Even if you fail, at least you will have failed doing something you believed in, instead of failing to try at all.

The fears and limitations of others do not have to become your fears and limitations.

    You get a say.

    Courage gets a say.

  • Get To Work

This is a reminder to get to work.

    Turn away from distraction.

    Make your art.

    Start the project.

    Fight through resistance.

Do something you are proud of.

    Make a mess.

    Make mistakes.

    Just make something.

It does not have to be perfect.

    It will not be perfect.

You simply need to do it.

You have put it off long enough.

    Get to work.

    art, creativity, work

  • Allowing Growth

Everyone grows at their own speed.

Be careful how hard you push people.

Even with the best intentions, you can push people too far.

People need to struggle through that which is blocking them, but they often need to do so in their own way and in their own time.

They need to learn their own lessons.

You might think you are being helpful, but you may actually be impeding their growth by interfering in their process.

You can give advice and guidance, but you cannot do the necessary work for someone else.

    There are no shortcuts.

While it is difficult to watch someone you care about struggle or suffer, it is their struggle to overcome and their suffering to work through.

    Be present.

Be a shoulder to lean on, a voice of encouragement, or a companion along the path, but let their path be their path.

  • Busy Going Nowhere

Do not brag about how busy you are.

Busy is often a means of hiding.

It is a way of distracting yourself and avoiding what is most important.

Busy has no correlation to achievement.

To be busy does not mean that you have direction.

And to be busy with no direction means that you are doing a lot of nothing.

What you should be after is not busyness for the sake of busyness, but purposeful action in a clearly defined direction.

If you can take all of the energy that you spend being busy and focus it on something productive, there is no limit to how far you can go.

    busy, direction, goals, purpose

  • Time To Wonder

There is not enough wonder in the world anymore.

There are too many answers and not enough open-ended questions.

Not everything needs to be or should be known to everyone all of the time.

Sometimes it is better to not know certain things.

Some things are better left a mystery or a curiosity.

Knowing anything and everything you want and having the answer to every single question, does not necessarily make your life better.

Much of what makes life worth living is the not knowing, the wondering, and the seeking.

Take some time to ponder the possibilities.

Leave some space for the unknown and the unknowable.

You may find that you are happier when you remain open to the mystery of it all than you are when you try to know it all.
