Weak men bow down
to the loud and boastful
empowered and emboldened
by pride and vanity
they gain strength
through the anger
and falsehoods
shouted down upon them
but the Lord gives
his strength and his power
to the meek and humble
and just like a mountain stream
slowly cuts through boulders
so too does God’s sword
of divine love and mercy
cut down the arrogant
at the hands of the quiet
and compassionate
whom he has empowered
with grace and salvation
