  • Unsaid Forever

Express your love while you are here.

Once you are gone, no one will express it for you.

Whatever you leave unsaid will remain unsaid forever.

Take this opportunity to say how you feel.

    There is no time.

    This is the time.

Never comes faster than you think.

  • Not For Me

It is okay to say, “This is not for me.”

You do not have to like everything others create.

Nor do you have to be opposed to that which you do not like.

If it is not for you, it is not for you.

    Let it be.

Leave others alone to make what they make and to enjoy what they enjoy.

Likewise, it is okay for others to say of your work, “This is not for me.”

Your work should not be for everyone anyway.

If no one dislikes your work, it is very likely that no one loves it either.

  • Start With Ideas

You do not need to know what you are doing in order to do something great.

Many amazing things have been created from nothing more than a single idea.

A plan is optional, but ideas are essential.

You can always devise a plan later, but ideas are transient and scarce.

The goal, then, is not to have the best plan, but to have the best idea.

This likely means having a lot of bad ideas as well.

You will not know which ideas are good and which are bad, however, without testing them out, without following through on them, and without being willing to fail.

Take risks, be playful, and try new things.

    Leave the planning for later.

But never let a good plan get in the way of a great idea.

  • A Divided Self

Leave your emotions out of it.

This is said as if that were possible.

To be human is to have emotions.

Asking someone to not be emotional is tantamount to asking them to not be human.

As much as we are thinking beings, perhaps more, we are feeling beings.

Quite often, what we think is first felt.

Other times, our thoughts turn into feelings.

But we cannot truly separate ourselves from our emotions.

When we try, usually to avoid conflict with the outside world, we create conflict within ourselves.

The more we attempt to suppress, repress, or rationalize away our feelings, the stronger they grow beneath the surface.

While we are not our feelings, much of who we are is based on what and how we feel, and why.

To try to separate ourselves from our emotions is to divide our identity and a divided self can never find peace.

  • Worth The Effort

Some things are just not worth the effort.

You might not figure this out until it is too late, however.

You may have to go down many wrong paths before you discover which path is right for you.

    Mistakes are part of life.

They are where your most important lessons are learned.

You cannot truly know who you are until first discovering who you are not.

You have to live, take chances, and risk failure.

You must walk through the darkness before you can truly appreciate your own light.

But simply because you have spent a lot of time and energy going in one direction does not mean it is the right direction.

Even if it is not worth the effort needed to go forward, your effort getting to this lesson was not wasted.

What would be a waste, however, would be for you to go one step farther than necessary or to give it one ounce more energy than you already have.
