Are you surprised
when the godless
drink and gamble
lie and deceive
remember that you
were once godless
doing all of this and more
in the name of pleasure
and self-satisfaction
ruled by ravenous desires
and an unquenchable thirst
it was not your goodness
that saved you
but grace
and in grace
there is no room for arrogance
or superiority
only humility and compassion
for you know
you are not the source
of your salvation
