  • Healing Through Peace

Being angry on behalf of another person is like making yourself sick in an attempt to heal someone else.

    It doesn’t work that way.

You cannot heal someone else by harming yourself.

If you are trying to make a positive change for someone you care about, do so by bringing positive energy to the situation, not negative energy.

Adding negative energy to negative energy does not create positive energy.

    Anger does not create healing.

If you want to be a healing force, make peace, not more conflict.

  • Get Out Of The Way

Sometimes the best thing you can do is to get out of the way.

You don’t have to involve yourself in every decision, situation, or conflict.

Some things are better left alone

They may even work themselves out better without you.

Ask yourself if your input or your involvement are necessary, or even desirable.

Ask yourself if this is the most important thing upon which to focus your attention.

Choose your battles wisely and make sure they are actually your battles before getting involved.

  • Listen To Your Art

Approach your art with an open mind and an open heart.

Creative projects often have a life of their own.

You can start with a clear vision and well-defined intentions, but your art may take you in a different direction.

As much as it is your job as an artist to steer your work in the direction you want it to go, it is also your job to listen to what your work is trying to tell you as you create it.

You will find that your best creative work is often a surprise.

Embrace this part of the process and enjoy the discoveries you make along the way.

Creativity is as much about listening to your art as it is about expressing yourself.

  • One Injury Into Two

There is no use in turning one injury into two by being angry.

Life is difficult and bad things happen.

We get hurt and so do the people around.

This is an unfortunate and unavoidable aspect of life.

    You cannot change the past.

Nor can you avoid or prevent pain and suffering in the future.

You can, however, choose how you feel about it.

  • Into Vulnerability

Where you are most vulnerable is also where your deepest truths reside.

Do not run from this place.

    Lean into it.

Trudge forward in the direction of your fears and insecurities.

It will be difficult and it will be painful, but be brave.

In your naked fragility is where you will find yourself.

No one can do this work for you, but you are not alone.
