in a world of change
my God is constant
in a world where everything passes
my God is eternal
in a world full of fear and hatred
my God is love

are for me
not against me
they are the friction
that polishes and purifies my soul
when I fall
I land in the grace
that lifts me back up to God
my failures are my path
to sanctification
it is through my imperfections
that God’s light enters my heart
I seek forgiveness
that I may live as an example
of His merciful ways

As we transform
from our vision of ourselves
into God’s vision of who we are
the ties that bind us
to our old selves
must be severed
so that we may be free
to love Him
with all of our heart
mind and soul
and our fellows as ourselves
all that is not love

When you submit
your will and life
to God
the work
has really just begun
all of your old ways
your fears
appetites
and anger
must be threshed out

being burned away

until all that remains
is the wheat of love
