to the deserts of selfishness
my barren soul
consumed by anger and fear
alone in the wilderness

for You were always there

for my repentance

and drew me near
calling me out of emptiness
into the fullness of Your grace

Heavenly Father
when we experience
the muck and mire
of depression and confusion
teach us to put on
our spiritual rain boots
so that we can dance
and stomp
and splash
within in it
until we are no longer afraid
of the darkness
for even in the darkness
you are there
teaching us to play

Lord I know

to meet you
