  • Lifted By Enthusiasm

Your enthusiasm will not always be received with matching enthusiasm.

    Be enthusiastic anyway.

Do not concern yourself with those who mock you, who scoff at the passion you exude, and who will try to knock you down.

You have a rare gift that this world of envy, jealousy, and cynicism would gladly destroy merely so that you may share in their misery.

    Do not give in.

Allow your exuberance to lift you up and carry you through life.

The special few who deserve the light and lightness you bring to this world will be there to share the journey with you along the way.

Maintain your enthusiasm and not give up until you find them, for they will be your tribe.

  • Encouraging Presence

You cannot give someone courage, but sometimes your presence is all a person needs in order to behave courageously.

They simply need to know, whether they win or lose, succeed or fail, that you will be by their side throughout the experience.

The work of being courageous is theirs alone to do, but your presence can be a platform upon which they stand when they do that work and upon which they fall if they fail.

In this way, in the truest sense of the word, your presence is an act of encouragement.

That is to say, your presence has the ability to give someone courage they may not have been able to tap into alone.

    bravery, compassion, courage, encouragement, presence

  • Through Difficulty

Not everything you start needs to be seen to completion.

Some tasks, projects, or even relationships are not worth the investment in time, energy, and attention they require.

Simply because you have invested in something does not mean it will pay off or that it is worth further investment.

But if it matters to you, if success in this endeavor is important and meaningful, you can not and you must not quit simply because it is difficult.

Setbacks, obstacles, and failure are not only part of the path to success in a worthwhile endeavor, they are the path to success.

For this reason, when you meet difficulty along the way, it is not a sign that you should stop or change course, but that you should keep going.

    The way around is through.

difficulty, failure, obstacles, perseverance, persistence, success, the journey, the obstacle is the way, the path, the way

  • Win As (And For) Yourself

Win or lose, at the end of the day, you have to live with yourself.

It is better to lose as the best version of yourself than to win being someone you would rather not be.

In any endeavor, if you do your best, with integrity, honor, and courage, and do not leave an ounce of effort in reserve, you can and should hold your head high regardless of the outcome.

This is not an excuse to celebrate failure or to accept loss lightly.

Your goal is and should be to win, in whatever way you define success, but win as yourself.

You are who you have to live with for the rest of your life.

Impress yourself with your effort, give everything you have, and make yourself proud.

No one else and nothing else matters.

be yourself, bravery, courage, effort, goals, honor, integrity, success, winning

  • Embracing Inevitability

There is really no point in being upset about the inevitable.

If you cannot change what is happening, getting angry, frustrated, or worked up over the situation will not improve it.

Likewise, if you do have the power to change your circumstances, being upset will not make doing so any easier and choosing not to change things is no excuse for self pity or resentment.

Mind you, there is a time and a place to be upset.

We are not meant to be emotionless creatures who accept every happening in our lives as fate.

Some experiences are truly upsetting, painful, or even intolerable.

The point is that being upset about what you cannot change, or even what you can, will not make your life or your circumstances better.
