  • What You Can Do

The sooner you accept the things you cannot change, the faster you can start working on the things you can.

There is nothing more wasteful than fretting about things you have no control over.

All of that energy could be otherwise spent on improving your life or yourself.

You have limited resources so you must learn to use them wisely.

Your time, energy, and attention are nonrenewable.

Focus on what you can do and what you can effect.

The rest is really none of your business anyway.

    attention, change, focus

  • Risk You Can Live With

There is no way to do great work without taking risks.

    But risks are, well, risky.

    Things may not work out.

    Failure is always an option.

In spite of this, the goal is not to avoid risks, but to take risks that you can live with.

Take risks you can recover from, that you can learn from, and that have an upside, even in loss.

In this way, the risks you take become the path of the great work you seek to do.

    goals, risk, success

  • Purpose Awaits

You will know your purpose because it is the thing you most strongly attempt to avoid, but that never really goes away.

It sits in the back of your mind, haunting you while you go on about your business like it does not exist.

And yet, in spite of all that you do to ignore it, it remains.

It is as constant and true as your heartbeat, but you deny it.

You convince yourself that there are more important things to focus on and more pressing concerns that require your attention.

There is nothing more important and more pressing, however, than your unique purpose.

Get honest and get to work.

    meaning, purpose, resistence

  • Turning Down Opportunities

In order to prioritize what is important, you must learn how to say no to that which is unimportant.

Overcommitting yourself makes you less effective.

You cannot be of real use to others if you are stretched too thin.

If you are overextended, you cannot even take care of yourself properly.

You must decide what is important and dedicate yourself to that.

This means turning away from distractions.

More difficult, however, it also means turning down opportunities that do not align with your priorities.

    distraction, goals, opportunity, priorities, values

  • Live Now

    Challenge yourself.

    Face that which frightens you.

    Lean into it.

    Life is going to happen.

    Safety is an illusion.

No one makes it out alive.

It is better to truly live while you have the chance than to die every day from a fear of failure.
