your mind will wander
desperately reaching
for worldly concerns
tempting you to love
that which is
other than God
more than you
love God
for God’s sake
as these thoughts arise
simply smile
and shrug them off
with the grace
of the angels
for you know
that God alone is true

the world is falling apart
like humanity is broken
and evil is winning
that is because it is
but hear me
people of God
this is not your home
you are just passing through
do not allow
the ways of the world
to distract you
from your call to God
listen for his quiet voice
amidst the chaos
he will lead you out of darkness
by the lamp of his love
