Meditations on God

  • Not To Fight

You may know how to fight.

You might be skilled in the arts of combat, or even war.

You may be able to defend yourself and the people around you.

    This is quite impressive.

This knowledge and these skills are important, perhaps even essential, in this often dangerous and unpredictable world, and should not be diminished.

But do you know how not to fight?

Is there peace in your heart?

Does your presence give people comfort?

Are you able to diffuse conflict instead of inciting it?

Do your words and actions inspire harmony or chaos?

You may know how to fight, but do you know how not to fight?

  • Presence And Worry

When you worry, you ignore who and what is in front of you.

You cannot be present and worried at the same time.

Life is what is happening now.

Worrying is giving your attention to that which may or, more likely, may never happen.

In this way, worrying stops you from living.

It stops you from being available to the present and to those who need you now.

It distracts you from what you can change by focusing your attention on what you cannot change.

If you want to live, learn to let go of worry and seize the moment at hand.

  • Reliving Your Mistakes

Once you realize you have made a mistake, there is no point in reliving that mistake incessantly in your mind.

You already made the mistake once.

Do not make it over and over again in your thoughts.

Acknowledge your mistake, make amends if necessary, learn from it, and move on.

Life lies ahead of you, not behind you.

It is already too late to change the past.

You can, however, reconcile the past by making better decisions in the future.

    Regrets are part of life.

Use them as fuel for transformation, not as an anchor to the person you once were.

Your future is not determined by your past mistakes.

Your future is determined by the actions you take to not make those mistakes again.

  • Finding Your Way

Do not give up until you find your path.

Life can be difficult and confusing.

It is easy to feel lost and out of place.

You are not alone in this.

You are not the first person to struggle with knowing your identity, your purpose, and your place in this world.

Nor will you be the last.

Some people simply find their way earlier and easier than others.

They somehow appear effortlessly comfortable, confident, and self assured.

Everywhere they go, they find their tribe or their tribe finds them.

You may not have it so easy, but do not give up.

    Keep moving forward.

Keep searching in yourself for meaning, for what excites you, and for what brings you a sense of joy, comfort, and belonging.

Make friends with this place in yourself, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem.

    This is your starting point.

Venture out bravely from here and you will find your way.

    You will find your tribe.

  • When You Ar(t)

When you are lonely, make art.

When you are sad, make art.

When you are happy, make art.

When you are disappointed, make art.

When you are excited, make art.

When you are grieving, make art.

When you are celebrating, make art.

When you are full of regret, make art.

When you are full of joy, make art.

When you are inspired, make art.

When you are bored, make art.

    When you are…

    Make art.
