the innocence you lost to sin
the gentleness of your soul
before the world had its way with you
the lamp of hope that lit your path
prior to being overtaken by darkness
the you of before remains
weeping in the shadows
crying to be found
longing for the light
pray to remember
who you were before
a child of God
a child of love
a child of hope and kindness

and be reborn
innocent in heart
