It is often difficult to decipher the emotions we experience at any given time.
We are complex creatures with complex emotional and psychological natures.
We do not really have a clean line of perception to the root of what we feel or why.
Our personal histories, relationships, environment, and even our own thoughts, beliefs, and opinions all play a part in how we feel about things, but these often get all jumbled up inside us so it is difficult to decipher what is what.
We may feel one thing on the surface, but beneath that feeling is something entirely different.
A circumstance or interaction may bring up certain feelings, seemingly out of nowhere, without any real explanation.
Sometimes we feel so intensely about something that it affects our whole lives without our even knowing why.
Add to all of this the fact that we spend an insane about of time trying to deny, reject, deflect, and suppress our feelings, and we have a very confusing situation indeed.
There is no real solution to the conundrum that is our emotions, but it does seem that it is better to acknowledge and embrace what we feel, to sit with it and get to know it, and to make friends with it, than it is to try to ignore or avoid it because we cannot simply wish away our feelings.
Our feelings are ours and we have to learn to live with them or they will control the way we live.
