At the end of the road
with nowhere else to turn
I turn to you
and there you are
waiting for me with open arms
welcoming me home
without judgement
without hesitation
without question
rejoicing in my return
as if my wanting you
is all you ever wanted

Lord I know
you do not protect me
from suffering
for all of your people
have suffered
your very son was beaten
broken and killed
by this world of sin
but you provide
the strength and wisdom
to move through my pain
with faith and grace
for you do not allow me to suffer
without purpose
even if it is beyond
my understanding

and sorrows
overhelmed me
I cursed the day
I was born
the Lord heard my cries
he delivered me
from my prison
of fear and loneliness
his love transformed me
I was reborn to serve him
and rejoice in his mercy
