I give to God
my presence
he moves
through the silence
changing me
with his love
doing his work
in my heart
chipping away the edges
forming me
into what he would
have me be
for his divine purpose

The pain you must feel
dear God
when one of your sheep
leaves the fold
when one of your children
wanders off
into the world
of evil and lies
outside of your care
and protection
how restlessly you must
await their return
crying out for them
to come home
for as your love
is without end
and knows no limits
so too must your sorrow
know no bounds
when one of your own
is lost in the wilderness

O Lord
I am willing to hear
what you are saying
I humbly submit myself
to your loving will
and yet there is so much
resistance in my heart
the temptations
are limitless
and my selfish ways
are abundant
speak to me
O Lord
break through my walls
of pride and fear
and speak to my heart

Heavenly Father
I do not presume
to know what is best
for the world
and your people
my wisdom is finite
my vision is limited
my perception
of good and evil
is corrupted
by my fears and desires
your plan is greater
than my understanding
your will is pure
you are love
before and beyond creation
I am merely flesh and bones
awaiting my return
to the dust
from whence I arose
