Meditations on God

The sun warms
the tops of the trees
as the blossoms of spring
begin to reveal themselves
bringing with them
the hope of renewal
and rebirth
because even as autumn
has stripped the trees
of their protection
winter is not a season of death
but of deep rest
as with the trees
we emerge from our seasons
of darkness and cold
alive in a new way
in the sunlight of God’s spirit

Lord may all
of your children
know the joy
of your presence
the peace and comfort
of your love
in our hearts
may we let loose
our grasp on fear
worry and hatred
and let you be
the arbiter
of justice
among us
that we may focus
on being loved by you
and loving one another

Bring to God
your sadness
your broken heart
and confusion
he awaits
your cry for help
for love
is never imposed
it is only ever
offered freely
God will give you
comfort
a place to rest
and the courage
to go on
