Meditations on God

Pride prevents me
from hearing God’s voice
self convinces me
that I do not need his help
as much as it pains him
to see me suffer
in separateness
from his blessings
freely offered
he allows it
because it is my choice
his love merely an invitation
a gift that must be accepted
for it is never imposed
Lord help me to accept
your love and mercy
