Meditations on God

  • Not Silent

    Be quiet and listen
    even the silence
    is not silent
    intrusions abound
in the temple of your mind
    but you can neither
    engage nor ignore them
if peace is what you seek
rather allow them to pass by
    like feathers
    on the breeze
    of solitude

  • In The Silent Dawn

    Lord I commune with you
    in the silent dawn
    when nothing stirs
    and all is still
    before the world
    makes its demands
    upon my heart
    I offer myself to you
    in contemplation
    to shape
    and mould me
    in accordance
    with your will

  • Trust His Will

    The Lord consoles us
    but also removes his consolation
    when he feels
    our reliance is on it
    instead of him
we do not serve a feeling
    we serve the Lord
    who does not ask us
    to trust a feeling
    but to trust his will
    and his plan
    even when we cannot see
    the light ahead
    for the darkness
    that surrounds us

  • One Source

The world wants to distract you
    from God’s presence
    latching onto your pride
    envy and fear
    making you believe
    you are missing out
    on being valued
    loved and accepted
    when true value
    true love
    and true acceptance
    have but one source
    found in the quiet solitude
    of God’s eternal embrace

  • He Will Provide

    In a state of prayer
    ask for what you need
    the Lord will provide
    not what you want
    but what you need
    for he knows this
    better than you
    his plan is holy
    his love is pure
    his aim is true
    and he will provide
    always
