Meditations on God

As you pray
your mind will wander
desperately reaching
for worldly concerns
tempting you to love
that which is
other than God
more than you
love God
for God’s sake
as these thoughts arise
simply smile
and shrug them off
with the grace
of the angels
for you know
that God alone is true
