Once we commit to something, our feelings about it are really of no consequence.
Whether we feel like doing it or not, if we have made a commitment, the thing must be done.
Our feelings will fool us.
They do not consider our future, our reputation, or our relationships.
They only care about their own immediate gratification.
This is why it is more important to be reliable than authentic.
It is more important to be consistent than it is to be passionate.
Of course we should not pretend to be someone else.
Of course we should put our hearts into our work.
But, a commitment is a commitment regardless of whether or not we feel the same now as we did when we agreed to it or signed up for it.
Our job is not to follow our feelings, it is to follow through on our commitments.
