Meditations on God

  • Righteous Anger

Anger is no less harmful to you simply because you are right.

    Righteous anger is still anger.

And anger is a destroyer of peace.

No matter how justified it may feel, anger is a blade that cuts both ways.

    It always harms the wielder.

There is simply no way to be angry and happy at the same time.

You must choose, therefore, between being angry and everything else, even when you are right to be angry.

    anger, happiness, peace

  • Waiting To Be Picked

Do not wait around to be picked.

    It may never happen.

You might find yourself waiting around forever, hoping someone will notice, lonely and disappointed that they never do.

But you have a right to participate.

    You do not need permission.

Step up and be yourself without hesitation or shame.

You are not going to get an invitation; this is your invitation.

be yourself, belonging, permission, purpose, self confidence, waiting

  • Your Worth

Do not get in the habit of trying to convince others of your worth.

    It does not work.

    You must know your worth.

    And you must act accordingly.

Be the best version of yourself in spite of what others may think.

Changing in an attempt to please others will only lead to your unhappiness, and they will still not be pleased.

Your worth is what it is, not what others perceive it to be.

    self worth, value, worth

  • Move On

If a person is always frustrated, do not take it personally when they get frustrated with you.

It is probably not your fault.

If it is your fault, apologize, try to make it right, and move on.

Everyone gets to choose for themselves if they hold onto anger or let it go.

You cannot control another person’s feelings.

All you can do is try to be the best version of yourself.

You will not make everyone happy and it is foolish to even try.

    amends, anger, frustration, relationships

  • Avoiding Your Calling

What you are good at may not be an indicator of what you are meant to do.

    You may simply be hiding.

By focusing on that which comes easy to you, you are avoiding that which is difficult.

It feels good to do something well.

But it is a waste of time to do something well that should not be done at all.

Do not focus your efforts, therefore, on what you are good at.

Rather, focus your efforts on that which you are most vehemently avoiding because that is most likely where you will find your calling.
