Meditations on God

Lord God
some days
your presence
moves through me
unhindered
and I can feel myself
disappear in you
other days
I merely stumble
in your direction
blindly feeling my way
through prayer
and yet I continue to pray
for if all I can do
is to practice your presence
I will practice
with all my heart

my spirit finds rest

and I am reborn

acknowledging

that he is God

and I am not he

in subtle ways
he whispers his desires
upon my heart
in solitude
and guides me
in community
I am not alone
for he is always with me
my God is everything
or else he is nothing
now and forever

even if we don’t understand
even if we feel alone
even if we feel forsaken
he is always there
watching over us
guiding his lost sheep
back into the fold
where we will find comfort
peace and protection
if we only follow him
in faith

are wicked and corrupt
let me rest not
upon this broken world
relying on it
for comfort and guidance
but upon the Lord
who leads me away from evil
and out of darkness
into the fullness
of his promise and light
