If you are called
to a contemplative life
do not be envious
of those who enjoy
an active life
for if nothing outside of
perfect union
with perfect God
will quench your soul’s thirst
alleviate the hunger of your spirit
and satisfy the longing
of your inmost being
why would you
envy those who chase
that which is not God
