Leave your emotions out of it.
This is said as if that were possible.
To be human is to have emotions.
Asking someone to not be emotional is tantamount to asking them to not be human.
As much as we are thinking beings, perhaps more, we are feeling beings.
Quite often, what we think is first felt.
Other times, our thoughts turn into feelings.
But we cannot truly separate ourselves from our emotions.
When we try, usually to avoid conflict with the outside world, we create conflict within ourselves.
The more we attempt to suppress, repress, or rationalize away our feelings, the stronger they grow beneath the surface.
While we are not our feelings, much of who we are is based on what and how we feel, and why.
To try to separate ourselves from our emotions is to divide our identity and a divided self can never find peace.
